Landscapes
In the Landscapes series, I explore the visual and emotional resonance of place by blending direct photographic capture with expressive digital reworking. These images begin with scenes that are real — fields, hills, skies, and distant horizons — but through colour, rhythm, and dynamic mark-making I aim to open them up, inviting the viewer to see beyond literal description.
For me, landscape is not just scenery to be recorded, but a space where memory, light, and perception intersect. By emphasizing gesture and tone, I seek to evoke not only what was seen, but how it was felt, transforming familiar terrain into images that resonate with atmosphere and visual energy.

About the work
In Landscapes, Furio Torracchi engages with the tradition of landscape photography while simultaneously pushing its expressive boundaries through digital reworking and painterly sensibility. Starting from photographic foundations, Torracchi applies strong, expressive digital brushstrokes and vibrant colours to create scenes that feel both familiar and heightened — a vivid reinterpretation of nature that transcends literal representation.
Many of the works draw inspiration from the rolling hills and valleys of Tuscany, evoking a sense of place that is at once rooted in specific terrain and expanded through dynamic visual energy. By emphasising line and colour, the landscapes become more than visual records: they function as emotional resonances of place, where light, form, and movement converge to create an impactful visual experience.
Across scenes ranging from pastoral fields and flower meadows to distant mountain horizons, this series reflects a thoughtful negotiation between documentary photography and expressive re-imagination. The result is a body of work that invites the viewer to experience landscape not merely as scenery, but as a living interplay between memory, perception, and visual intensity.
